Investment choice

One of the keys to maximising your retirement income is to make an investment choice that’s right for you.

And because no single investment option will suit everyone, AustralianSuper offers a choice of 16 investment options.

To work out which option suits you best, you’ll need to consider things like:

  • Your savings goals – including your future standard of living and your financial commitments
  • The total length of time your money will be invested (before and after you retire from work)
  • The level of risk you are comfortable with.

The Investment Choice Guide can help you work through these considerations.

How to make a choice

It's free to make an investment choice* and you can change your choice as often as once a week.

Do you have to make an investment choice?

No. If you don’t make an investment choice when you join, we’ll automatically invest your AustralianSuper account in the Balanced option (the ‘default’ option).

You can then switch into a different option at a later date if you wish to.

Most AustralianSuper members are in the Balanced option. It has been designed to provide strong, long-term investment returns at the most acceptable level of risk for most members. It invests in a diverse range of asset classes, including shares, property, infrastructure, fixed interest and cash.
