ASX200 Shares Investment

The ASX 200 Shares Investment Option allows members to invest in one or more ASX 200 stocks in the S&P/ASX 200, which incorporates the top 200 companies and trusts (by market capitalisation) listed for trading on the Australian Stock Exchange.

The benefits you receive include dividends, distributions, capital movement and franking credits, where available.  

Research material on the 200 stocks is sourced from Macquarie Equities Limited and published to this website everyday. To access this research material follow these four simple steps:

Eligibility criteria

To ensure members maintain a diversified mix of investments across their superannuation investment, eligibility criteria must be met prior to investing in this option. You:

  • Must have a minimum account balance of $10,000
  • Can only invest up to 50% of your account balance in the Option, subject to no single stock representing more than 20% of the total account balance. (Future contributions cannot be invested in this Option)
  • Must invest the remainder of your account balance in one or a combination of the Fund’s other investment options.

The 50% and 20% eligibility requirements are checked each time a ‘buy’ request is processed.

 

Minimum share purchase

Each buy instruction to invest in stocks in a particular S&P/ASX 200 company must be worth at least $1,500.

Note: Failure to comply with one or more of the ASX 200 Shares Investment Option criteria will result in your application not being processed. AustralianSuper will advise you if this occurs.

These conditions also apply to offers to invest in stocks pursuant to a corporate section of an ASX 200 stock.

 

Registration of shares

All shareholdings in the ASX200 Shares Investment Option will be registered in the name of JP Morgan Nominees Australia Limited, as the custodians of the Fund.

The annual participation fee of $39 for the ASX 200 Shares Investment Option and share transaction fee covers additional administration requirements for this investment option.  Learn more about investment management fees.

 


Applications to buy or sell stocks in the ASX 200 Shares Investment Option that are received by AustralianSuper between 1pm Friday and 1pm the following Friday – or by Sunday midnight if submitted via MemberOnline – will be implemented on the first trading day of the following week ie. the following Monday (or next day in the event of a public holiday).

The Fund will issue letters confirming initial choices, entry price per share, any changes to your investment choice and confirmation of the effective date.

You will receive information regarding dividends together with an amount representing any associated imputation credits in your half-yearly, end-of-year and exit member statements. These will be reported per company as a dividends earned contribution.
