How to Join

This checklist outlines the six simple steps involved in joining AustralianSuper.

  • 1. Decide which division of AustralianSuper you wish to join

If your employer pays superannuation contributions on your behalf, you will need to join the main section of AustralianSuper.

If you are self-employed or have a rollover amount to invest, you will need to join the AustralianSuper Personal Plan. It is open to almost anyone who doesn't have a contributing employer.

If your employer pays contributions to your super account please download the Member Guide.

If you are self employed or do not receive employer contributions please download the Member Guide - Personal Plan.

You should consider whether the products, services, features and benefits of AustralianSuper meet your personal objectives. You might also like to consider seeking independent professional financial advice that would take into account your individual circumstances.

You will be asked to nominate your beneficiaries and provide personal details including your Tax File Number. You will also have the opportunity to nominate your investment strategy and apply for insurance cover.

An initial deposit is required to support your application. This can be in the form of:

  • A personal cheque or rollover cheque from another super fund, made payable to AustralianSuper: or
  • An amount currently with another super fund that you wish to roll over.

Join AustralianSuper now.

5. Processing your Application

It generally takes five working days to set up your account once your application and initial deposit has been received. You will then be sent a welcome letter, AustralianSuper membership card and PIN to access MemberOnline.
